Frequently asked questions

What is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)?

Scalp Micropigmentation is a safe, non-surgical technique that restores the natural hairline by depositing extra-fine, organic, plant-based pigment through the dermal (outer) layer of the scalp. The pigment deposits replicate hair follicles and create the appearance of a full head of hair. SMP provides you with a Low Caesar-style look – complete with a customized hairline.

How many scalp treatments do I need?

We begin with a minimum of two treatments, one week apart. This spacing is necessary to ensure that your skin (your body’s largest organ) accepts the pigment. You will see significant results after the first treatment but after the second treatment, results are more complete. There is a possibility of a third treatment 1-3 weeks after the second treatment to add finishing touches. *The human skin will reject some of the pigment immediately after the first treatment.

How long is each treatment?

Each client’s needs are different. Typically a session is 2-4 hours long. Your first appointment will be the longest because the hairline and the foundational layer are constructed during this session. Each subsequent treatment is shorter, although this can vary based on the retention of previous treatments.

Do I need to take time off from work?

No need to miss work the day of or after your initial appointment, there is no downtime associated with the process. Scalp Micropigmentation is non-invasive and nonsurgical. You will need up to 4 hours for your first session and that can be scheduled so as not to interfere with work. You only need to follow the 4-day aftercare plan.

Does it hurt?

Previous clients have reported that the sensation is similar to getting a tattoo but with less intensity or the feeling of the micro-fine needles on the scalp as mild. Of course pain tolerance will vary with each client. Your comfort, health, and safety are our priority. Our trained practitioners will make you as comfortable as possible and ensure that the process is smooth and efficient.

How is hairline construction determined?

Many factors are considered to determine the hairline that is suitable for you. There are a range of options available to every client. The most natural and appropriate result is determined by your individual features and personal preferences. Book your consultation today. Link here

Will people be able to tell I have the treatment done?

After the first treatment, there may be visible redness and the pigments will appear bolder. Within 24 hours the pigments will begin to soften and any redness that is noticeable, disappears within approximately 48-72 hours. Intensity of redness is based on sensitivity of the skin. The second session amplifies your results and darkens the pigment. If necessary, depending on the degree of hair loss additional sessions may be recommended. After the process is finished, your treatment will look completely natural.

How much does it cost?

The cost for SMP varies, depending on the scale of hair loss and the scope of work needed. The first two treatments are one week apart with the possibility of a third treatment 1-3 weeks after the second. SMP services average from $1200 - $3200.

When are the payments due?

There is a $400 booking deposit to secure your treatment dates with us. There is a typical wait time of a couple of weeks for an appointment. We then split the payments 50/50 between the first two treatments. Financing is also available through United Medical Credit.
